So You Think You’re Trauma-Informed? Maybe…

As the term trauma-informed has become more and more prevalent in the addiction and mental health world, the full understanding and implementation of trauma-informed services can become diluted. Token representations of fully developed and comprehensive systems of care can cause harm and fall short of the full realization of trauma-informed systems. This provocative presentation provides a comprehensive overview of trauma-informed systems of care and all of the necessary elements, including the overarching paradigm of Values-Based Services. This two-day workshop, spread out over half a year, will invite you on a professional and personal journey. We will use virtual check-ins before, in between, and after the two main training sessions to process and better incorporate the information you are learning.

These workshops will help you

  • articulate the model for values-based services
  • provide a comprehensive overview of the elements of trauma-informed care
  • provide effective tools to help your program move toward being fully trauma-informed

Requirements

  • two in-person sessions
  • three virtual sessions
  • Registrants are expected to participate in all sessions.

About the Speaker: Dan Griffin

In his usual thought-provoking, vulnerable, and humorous way, Dan will bring a comprehensive message of trauma-informed care and practical ways to implement it in your organizations and your day-to-day professional life. Griffin’s book, A Man’s Way through Relationships, is the first trauma-informed book written to help men create healthy relationships while navigating the challenges of internalizing the “Man Rules.” Griffin is also the author of A Man’s Way through the Twelve Steps, the first trauma-informed book to take a holistic look at men’s sobriety. He also co-authored Helping Men Recover, the first comprehensive gender-responsive and trauma-informed curriculum for men. Griffin is the co-author of the two curricula Amazing Dads with Harrison Crawford (published by Wiley in 2024) and Healing Men’s Pain with Jonathan DeCarlo (published by Wiley in 2024). Griffin is working on books to go along with both curricula as well. Additionally, Dr. Sophia Murphy is the lead author of Amazing Moms and Healing Women’s Pain, both to be published at the end of 2024 by Wiley. Dan is also author of the book What Men Would Tell You if We Weren’t Too Busy Watching TV with Dr. Allen Berger.
