An Addiction Medical Home for Kentucky
What is an Addiction Medical Home?
An addiction medical home offers comprehensive primary care and other healthcare services with a special emphasis on patients who need help recovering from substance use disorders or other addiction-related behavioral health disorders. Intensive Health offers primary care, behavioral health care, infectious disease (ID) treatment, and substance use disorder treatment. All health services are provided with recovery in mind, so that your health care will be coordinated for the best outcome. For opioid and alcohol addiction disorders, Intensive Health provides MAT, or medication-assisted treatment, in addition to counseling/therapy.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Medication-assisted treatment provides effective medications for overcoming cravings and withdrawal effects. Our physicians can prescribe medications including:
- Buprenorphine/naloxone, also known as Suboxone
- A long-acting buprenorphine injection for opioid use disorder known as Sublocade
- A long-acting naltrexone injection for alcohol and opioid use disorders known as Vivitrol
MAT works best when combined with other addiction treatment interventions, particularly therapy or counseling. In order to receive MAT, patients must enroll in counseling services.
Behavioral Healthcare
Behavioral health care is an important component of any recovery plan. At Intensive Health, our qualified mental health professionals provide individual therapy and group counseling. We provide flexible scheduling for both group counseling sessions and personal therapy. We also offer 24-hour on-call services for medical emergencies.
